which finally fell apart from love and overuse

Clearly written, instructive for not just making patterns, but adjustments. This is my go-to pattern advice and creation book. I am not educated in pattern design, but I am self taught and have created several pieces for myself using the old edition, which finally fell apart from love and overuse. This edition has more information. I do think it's a great place to start with your own designs, but you need to know how to sew first. It's an addition to your skills, not the tell-all book of sewing your patterns. It's just what I wanted and it's a classic for a reason. I love it so much, that I keep it close and available in my craft room at all times.

Very good book with

Very good book with, maybe the first which gives so much attention to the mass transfer rate based approach to gas sweetening, Suprizingly I did n't find in the references of many subjects the names of other authors who have put the milestones of this approach like Dr Ralph Weiland. Very useful for someone who wants solid background to gas sweetening. A little bit detached however from field and operating issues. I would expect a little bit more information about simulations tools. Highly recommended.

A heavy read which demands thorough attention, but worth it!

Gottman's 1994 book comes on the heels of groundbreaking work in behavioral observation methodologies. Trained as a mathematician, Gottman spares us no quantified details. However, quantification and reliable measurement are the indispensible components of good scientific research of which Gottman's work is a nearly overwhelmingly thorough example. Gottman takes us back stage to the development and the testing of hypotheses about what makes marriages tick and what makes them wind down in very convincing fashion. I lecture from this text in my university course and student attention is usually very high and they ask many questions. The fact that Gottman can predict marital dissolution, in some instances, at better than 90%, is itself a testament to his rigourous and insightful work. Isn't that one of the main points of science: to predict?

About the Author
Kola Abimbola is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leicester, UK. He was previously an Assistant Professor at Seattle University where he taught Critical Thinking, Philosophy of the Human Person, and Philosophy of Law. I highly recommend this book

I recommend this book to those that have a moderate level of understanding of Yoruba cosmology. If a practitioner already has an understanding of the Orisa that are spoken about, then the reader can understand where the author of the book is going with his assessments. There are other assertions to the relationships of the deities but Kola makes a good case on why he says what he does because he uses ODU as the basis of his claims.

just a short book

In fact in despite of his title the book has a little focus in Yoruba culture. Most of time it talk about Ifa Poetry and religion meaning. It is actually not a scholar work as we could expect from Kola and each capter's theme is not explained with a real deep and consistent approach.

Really I was upset about the way he talk about Idowu ideas regards Olodumare belief. Idowu, has at least 2 books about his ideas and this book are a serious and used until this days by a lot of authors. Right or wrong Idowu used 2 extensive books to explain his ideas and seems to have done a long field work. If Kola don't agree with him has to make something similar, look for source and also review early authors, as Verger did in his article The Yoruba High God. Kola support his ideas just citing Idowu work, using few lines in Ifa poetry and make highlights in mistakes in translation of few words and stuff like that. In fact he use some lines of Ifa poems to support his idea, but, however, he forgets to mention the others one or Yoruba myths which support the other side.

One interest thing is to create a model for Yoruba religion Theogony, but it is a small content for too many pages. I also already read different interpretation for the number of irunmole. Kola use the numbers 201 and 401 as a precise amount of divinities, but some people also interpret this numbers as meaning "a lot of" instead of a precise number. In fact number in Yoruba language is very complicate and it is far from be used as we do in our decimal system.

In case of medicine, in despite of this theme, again, he does a superficial approach classifying mainly as "homeopatic" instead herbalist (I think it is not a precise way to define his medicine...), and soon abandoning this and again talking about divinities. In the end of book he goes to Yoruba culturte theme, but also, very superficial and ignoring some very special aspects of a non-secular society.

Well, I can say I found some interesting informations in the book, but in general it was very deceptive for me. Kola came from the Nigerian society and had the opportunity to have a very good scholar formation. Also he is song of W.Abimbola and in this way, for me, in this book, he look like some one defending the Ifa ideas, or the awo's Ifa ideas or interests. Ok, it can be a unfair comment but also he was unfair in his book.

My opinion is Kola should spend more time and more research before publish a book. It is a very early product without a real and deep research and content. It is far from to be a has to have, or best one book. It is just another book. There is a lot better than this one.

Beautiful images, terrible book design.

Henrik Purienne's images are really easy to enjoy. Beautiful girls who all look like they've spent the day relaxing at the beach in various states of dress (or undress). Most of the photographs appear to be reproduced from recent issues of Mirage magazine, which Purienne is the creator of, or American Apparel campaigns that he shoots. Some of his best work from his archive (that I've seen on his website over the years) are missing and that's kind of disappointing. But my biggest issue with the book, which is bad enough that I would reduce 2-stars from my rating is that many of the layouts in the book are of vertical images printed as a two-page spread. So in a few cases, there's a photo of a woman's face, but the book's gutter runs right through the center of her face. It's not very good looking and simply having a vertical image laid out "sideways" so the book must be turned to view it is not a good decision. Another minor critique is that several pages are wasted on filler images that do not add anything to Purienne's purpose as a photographer. For instance, I don't think anyone who is a fan of Purienne's work is remotely interested in seeing a 2-page spread of an inflatable raft or a full page image of flamingos.

This book deliver as a photo essay project for Mr. Purienne.
The image has a snap shot quality, in accord to the style of the photographer, which is wholly expected.
It meets my expectation and the layout art direction is simple but fits this book.

I have never had a photo book receive so much attention at my home. Everyone loves this book and cannot put it down. Beautifully shot (in film) and gorgeous women. Henrik truly has a gift.

About the Author

Afsaneh Nahavandi is professor and department chair of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego and professor Emeritus at Arizona State University. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and French from the University of Denver and holds an MA and PhD in Social Psychology from University of Utah. Her areas of specialty are leadership, culture, ethics, and teams. She has published articles and contributed chapters on these topics in journals such as the Academy of Management Review, the Journal of Management Studies, the Academy of Management Executive, and the Journal of Business Ethics. Her article about teams won the Academy of Management Executive’s 1994 Best Article of the Year award. Her other books include: Organizational Behavior (with Robert Denhardt, Janet Denhardt, and Maria Aristigueta, 2014), Ancient Leadership Wisdom (2012), Organizational Behavior: The Person–Organization Fit (with Ali Malekzadeh, 1999), and Organizational Culture in the Management of Mergers (with Ali Malekzadeh,1993). She joined the department of Leadership Studies at the University of San Diego in 2013 after teaching at Arizona State University for twenty six years in both the Business School and in the School of Public Affairs. She also taught in the Business School at Northeastern University in Boston. She has held several administrative positions, including associate dean of ASU’s College of Public Programs and Associate Dean of ASU’s University College, and director of the ASU West School of Management MBA program. She is the recipient of several teaching awards, including the Arizona State University Parents Association Professor of the Year in 2004.
